“You received a spiritual seal, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the spirit of holy fear.  Keep safe what you received.  God the Father sealed you, Christ the Lord strengthened you and sent the Spirit into your hearts as the pledge of what is to come.”
Saint Ambrose

The Sacrament of Confirmation perfects our relationship with God through the Holy Spirit, which was first introduced at our Baptism. Confirmation completes the process of initiation into the Christian community and prepares us as His Disciples.

Before Jesus was put to death, He promised His apostles that He would send His Spirit to comfort and strengthen them. True to His promise, the Holy Spirit was poured out on them on Pentecost, forty days after His resurrection.

As in the first Pentecost, when we are confirmed we receive the Holy Spirit through the anointing with oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop or a Priest appointed by him. Through confirmation, our mission becomes elevated from nurturing our own relationship with God, to bringing the truth of Christ to those around us by the way we live out our faith and share it with others.

Youth Confirmation

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process for high school students. The program is designed to help Confirmation students come to a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in their lives and in the life of our Church, and how they can interact with that Spirit to draw them into a closer relationship with God.

This two-year process guides teens through the process of invitation, formation, and reflection leading to Confirmation, and is followed by a period of mission in which they continue to live out the gifts they received through the sacrament. Click here for more information.

Adult Confirmation

Adult Catholics (ages 18 and older) who have baptized, received First Eucharist, and are practicing their faith, but have not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to participate in a preparation program. This eight-week process emphasizes the basics of Catholic teaching with topics covering the Trinity, sacraments, prayer, morality and more. Click here for more information.

For adults who have not received their First Eucharist, you are invited to join the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) to learn about the Catholic faith. Click here for more information.
