Bringing Christ to Families Experiencing Cancer

with Deacon Noel Rivera

Tuesday  •  August 1, 2017  •  6:00 pm

We invite everyone who needs healing, and especially those affected by cancer to this special celebration of Hope:  those with active cancer cases, those in remission, those who have recovered, all family members, care givers, medical professionals, and friends of those who have had cancer or are experiencing cancer.

Please join Deacon Noel Trinidad Rivera, and the Family Cancer Support Ministry Team, for a very special service.  This will be an evening of healing, hope, and the building of a community of mercy.  A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

All are welcome to this prayer service and are invited to participate in individual prayers by Deacon Noel, as time allows.

Please join  us!

Deacon Noel Trinidad Rivera

Deacon Noel Rivera is the tenth of eleven children born in Navotas-Metro Manila, Philippines.  At age 17, he entered the University of Santo Tomas to study pre-medicine since it was his father's dream for him to be a medical doctor.  While a student, he was actively involved in the Catechetical and Social Action Sections of the Pax Romana Organization.

Due to financial constraints in the family as a result of his dad suffering a heart attach and a stroke at age 58, he decided to enlist in the United Sates Navy in September 1973 to help the family financially.

While on active duty service, he completed his nursing education and was commissioned as Nurse Corps officer in the Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander before his retirement.

In December 1999, his gift of healing manifested after praying over an elderly lady who was on her knees on a roadside complaining of chest pain.  Other reported improvements and/or healing followed the next few months by those he had touched or prayed for.  In August 2001, not knowing what to do with the gift, he approached Msgr. Fawcett who recommended the diaconal formation program.

In January 2002, Dcn. Noel entered the aspirancy program for diaconal formation and was ordained a permanent deacon for our Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Rancho Peñasquitos by Bishop Robert Brom on June 9th, 2006.  Since ordination, he has been invited by various parishes in San Diego for healing services and has been doing a regular healing service every first Friday of the month at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel for the last seven years.

Prayer for Healing

Almighty and merciful Father, by the power of your command, drive away from me all forms of sickness and disease.  Restore strength to my body and joy to my spirit, so that in my renewed health, I may bless and serve you, now and forevermore.  Amen.
