Palms to Ashes

On the next day, when the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out: “Hosanna!  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, [even] the king of Israel.”

John 12:12-13

Baskets available in the church until February 25, 2020

The Holy Season of Lent begins on February 26, 2020.  If you would like your Palm Sunday branches from last year burned, you may bring them to the church any time before February 25th.  The ashes from these blessed palms will be used for the Ash Wednesday service on February 26th.   There will be a basket at the entrance of the church in which to place them.

As with any blessed object, Holy palms should be returned to nature.  After the Palm Sunday service, the palms are to be kept as a holy item.  Should you wish to dispose of them on your own, you may bury or burn them and spread the ashes outside in a respectful manner.
